I enjoyed this much more than Weisberger's first book - The Devil Wears Prada. I would say that both books are about young women in New York City with a new job and having that job take over their lives, but this one seemed better written and less repetitious to me. Romance seems like a bigger focus in this book as well, in DWP it her relationship seems to be touched on verrry briefly. Lots of pop culture and New York City references. I think this character was better fleshed out than in the first book: more about her family and her personality and hobbies.

Very similar to "The Devil Wears Prada", although the story has a better role for "the guy who isn't good for her" and a reasonably appealing "guy she really wants".

This is the author that wrote The Devil Wore Prada. Even though I found the book predictable it is very entertaining. It is easy to read. This book would be great for someone who wanted a light entertaining book without a lot of depth to it. I liked it.

Lauren Weisberger really hit the big time with her first novel, The Devil Wears Prada, and was most likely encouraged to milk the rebound from Prada with a similar type of novel. In fact, I'm wondering if she can write anything that's really different at this point in time, if ever.
What I find irritating about her books is that the main character is always a spoiled, whiny child who manages to get a job that other people would be infinitely grateful to have - the perks are amazing and the job provides opportunities for tremendous career growth. The pay isn't all that great and the hours are long - but hey, I'd rather have a job like this than work the same amount of time at Burger King and Walmart. But do Weisberger's characters see it this way? No, they'd rather whine about the long hours, "hard work," cattiness and difficult demands than count their obvious blessings. Further, they do this with a sense of righteousness - as if earning a great deal of money working a straight 40 hour week with honest, cooperative co-workers immediately out of college is something they are entitled to have.
In Prada, Weisberger must have been told that her characters were a bit too one-dimensional, because this book is stuffed with characters who have an eccentricity. Only one per character, and their quirkiness seems pulled out of a book of stereotypes.
However, all this said, it was still a fun read. Why? Because a.) it gives you an insight into a world that most of us will never be a part of, with luxurious opportunities and gifts raining from heaven and b.) it allows US to feel self-righteous as we smugly imagine what WE would do if given the same opportunity!

If you liked The Devil Wore Wears Prada, you might be tempted to pick up this book! Succumb to the temptation! Although the formula is almost the same...naive city girl finds a difficult job in an alien coporate culture...the scene that Weisberger describes is a different one. The world of PR is as corrupt as the fashion world in her first novel, and the temptations rampant. Pretending to be the girlfriend of a man she doesn't see without a camera present, ignoring the signs of trouble in a friend's impending marriage; all of make the implication that perhaps "everyone worth knowing" aren't worth knowing at all.
I love chick-lit and was interested enough to request this book, yet when it arrived I let it sit around for awhile and wondered if it was too predictable a book to even bother with. However, I'm glad I began reading it because, although a tad predictable, there are enough characters and little twists to keep you interested and even have you rooting for Bette in the end. If you are looking for a quick, easy, yet satisfying chick-lit book (and nothing more!), I reccomend this!

This was a lot better than The Devil Wears Prada in my opinion. The heroine was a lot more likable and didn't seem to bring so many of her problems on herself (and then blame them on others). I really liked this book which surprised me because I didn't like TDWP at all.

I thought this was a good, light read. Very enjoyable, but not very deep.
If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, you'll love this quick romp through NYs party scene and the PR machine that makes it all go. The storyline seems quite familiar, substitute celebs for designers and Prada echoes quite clearly. In spite of the slim plot, this is a fun read for anyone that needs a little escape from the not so glamorous daily grind.
As well hyped as they were, I didn't find this book or The Devil Wears Prada nearly as entertaining as I had expected to. The main characters aren't particularly endearing, therefore you don't find yourself rooting for them all that much. Some books leave you wanting more or hoping for a sequel, but you won't find that here.

Finally Bettes semi-notable uncle calls in a favor and Bette finds herself flung into the mysterious world of A-list celebs, all-night clubbing, drugs, alcohol, and the outrageous gossip columns that are the lifeblood of NYC. As a new PR rep Bette struggles to keep her private life out of her work life and finds out along the way that even though shes not meant to be a banker, she might also not be meant to be in the limelight.
I have mixed feelings about Everyone Worth Knowing. Yeah, it was a throwback to Devil Wears Prada and was essentially very similar in plotline with the endings almost identical, but despite the fact that Everyone Worth Knowing was so similar to its predecessor, I did like the book.
While not a page-turner, and despite the fact that the ending was pretty predictable, Everyone Worth Knowing had a cool vibe running throughout the whole thing that made me want to get to the end. Since its not a very long or laborious read this was not hard in the least, and the book left me feeling satisfied if not jumping out of my chair to read more.
I dont feel that the fact that the storyline is predictable is as sinful as some of the reviewers of this book have said. Its pretty much a classic case of the one-note-wonder that is Lauren Weisberger. She writes about NYC, the nightlife, the atmosphere, and the relationships that result from it. Basically an un-slutty version of Sex and the City, another one-note-wonder that gets acclaimed reviews.
I hate being on the fence about books. I want to either love them or despise them, but Everyone Worth Knowing was not one of these. I finished it, I didnt exalt in it, I didnt make any lasting relationships to the characters, but I did enjoy a glimpse into their world.

Great airplane reading. Bette comes from committed hippie parents and yet works in Manhattan first in banking and then as a PR party planner. Somewhat naive, she gets "used" by many somewhat unscrupulous characters who are stereotypes of the "beautiful people". Not great literature but fun.
Cute, light read. Not as good as the Devil Wears Prada, but a nice book for a plane ride or trip to the beach.

LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!! I wasn't sure how it would compare to Devil Wear's Prada (one of my favs) but it was great!!! It took me a few chapters to get into it because it hought it was a bad knock off at first, but once i got into it, i couldnt put it down. Such a greast story about a girl whos gotten complacent with her life and finally sucks f-it- quits her job as a banker, starts working as a party planner for THE company in New York and it just goes from there. FAB-U-LOUS!!!!

Even for chicklit, this remarkably vacuous book is full of pretentious name-dropping and shallow characters. Fuggedaboudit.
I didn't like this book as much as "The Devil Wears Prada", which was much more believable. In fact I found much of the story line repetitive and rather boring and the characters somewhat artificial in their similarity.
Loved it! For some reason, this book kinda reminds me of Sex IN The City....
I can sum up this book with one word: meh. I loved reading "The Devil Wears Prada" so I was pretty excited when Lauren Weisberger wrote another book. Except she really didn't because this has the same exact plot? Weisberger's writing style improved a little but this book was pretty dull and felt very unrealistic. I finished it in one night partially so I could get it over with. Overall? Dull, no-brainer chick book that would be great for the beach.
