This book follows three generations of two familes and tells the story of two siblings who are raised apart, reunited and the impact it has upon them. It has tense moments, mixed with sadness, hopefulness and hints of resilience and how choices made in one generation can affect those to come. The story starts in 1938 and jumps ahead to several other years. I'm not a fan of these big jumps as I don't like leaving one character behind to be introduced to a new one but overall I enjoyed the book. The characters are well developed and the location, the wilderness of Minnesota, was very well described. Because it had a neat ending, tied up with a bow, I knocked my rating down one half star.
