Sequel of the beloved novel, "Terms of Endearment" - Following the death of her daughter, Emma, Aurora Greenway was left to raise her three grandchildren: Tommy, who ended up in prison for shooting a rival drug dealer's girlfriend; Teddy, who met his soulmate Jane when they were both residing in the psychiatric hospital in Galveston; and Melanie, who can't figure out which of her boyfriends got her pregnant. Add in Aurora's maid and best friend, Rosie, and Aurora's live-in paramour Hector and numerous other boyfriends, and you have a Texas-size tale to tell.
A return to Aurora Greenway, the mother in Terms of Endearment. Warm, compassionate, full of comic invention.
Classic Mcmurtry. If you're a fan you'll love it.
Terms of Endearment is one of McMurtey's best works, and this sequil is wonderful. His characters are quirky and loveable. I loved this book.

My mother loves Larry McMurty's stuff. I didn't expect to, but was surprised at the wit and warmth of the writing, even if the genre isn't a favorite of mine.

McMurtry's latest novel picks up Aurora Greenway's life 17 years after her exploits in Terms of Endearment . Now in her mid-60s, Aurora still manages to both enchant and infuriate with her queenly world view and unswerving tastes, including a perpetual quest for new beaux. The capricious, generally directionless characters lead lives fraught with whimsy but also with sorrow, a sense of time escaping before life's real purpose is revealed. The cast includes General Scott, Aurora's increasingly senile "old boyfriend"; her maid and best friend, Rosie; her three grown grandchildren, all slightly damaged in some central way; as well as a variety of suitors. The connections between people in this novel, characterized by humor and serenity, run deep and sympathetic. Yet, as in life, there is a fair quotient of the unexpected and the tragic. McMurtry speaks from the heart with the gentle voice of acceptance. Don't miss this rare and wonderful book. Highly recommended for all audiences.

This is the sequel to "Terms of Endearment".
Larry McMurtry is a great author and I've read many of his books. I've enjoyed everyone of them, including this sequel to "Terms of Endearment".
