I read this book while finishing up Beth Moore's bible study on Esther. Having been in a thorough and in depth study, I noticed this book is not as thorough. However, the story of Esther is incredible and powerful and Charles Swindoll is a great author! I probably should have read this book before I studied Esther in depth, but I liked it a lot anyway!

Another wonderful book by Charles Swindoll. The book of Esther is one of the shortest books in the OT. Writing a book about the titular character is a challenge indeed. Biographical information is scant, and Esther's role in the story is subtle and short-spanned. That makes writing a whole book about her very difficult, even more difficult than the prophet Elijah (Elijah being the last Great Lives volume I read). Well this challenge didn't stop Mr. Swindell from undertaking the project, and I have to say the outcome is satisfactory. The path Charles took is to write a series of meditations or themes that revolved around Esther and her book. The work is less theological and more creative. The outcome is good, and I highly recommend this book.
