J.R. Ward has a way with words, and her imagination is stunning. While I love her Black Dagger series, Fallen Angels is quickly becoming my favorite. Her angels are not perfect - in many ways, more human than the humans - and I'm not referring to just the fallen ones. While the premise provides for a finite number of books, the end of this one creates somewhat of a loophole. I'm interested to see where she's going with it. In any case, you should read this as a series to understand all that is going on.

Book 3 in the Fallen Angels series; the story of Veck and (Sophia) Reilly. As with the first two, it was long. Not as much action or suspence; I didn't care about the characters as much; about half way through I started getting restless. That being said, I still loved it and at this point wouldn't consider for a second not continuing the series. My favorite so far? Number 2.

This is the best book in this series so far. Much more like the "Ward" writing style that we like. Can't wait to see if the next one is even better.

Homicide detective Thomas 'Veck" DelVecchio, Jr. is the son of a serial killer on death row. He fights for good but sometimes believes he really is his father's son, especially one unforgettable night. Determined to apprehend a serial killer, Veck goes to the crime scene knowing the man won't be able to help himself. But Veck doesn't remember anything except seeing the man and then waking up with the man almost dead - shredded to pieces. Veck is sure he did it but can't remember. When the officer first on the scene asks Veck for his badge and gun, he doesn't hesitate handing them over.

Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly doesn't think Veck did it, the evidence doesn't add up. But when the Captain puts Veck on thirty day probation, he assigns Veck to her working on cold cases. Veck is determined to get to work on the serial case, so he combs cold cases until he finds one he believes will put him back on the case.

A young woman disappeared and there are no witnesses. Veck believes that she is one of the serial victims. When the Feds show up, Veck and Sophia have no reason not to work with them. Jim Heron seems very capable and intelligent; he seems to know more than the file states. Veck and Sophia become close as they work together and the sparks between the two won't be denied.

Jim is an angel in a battle between good and evil. He is determined that the young woman Veck is investigating get to return back to her home. His nemesis, Devina, has her soul locked up in her wall of souls. He will do what it takes to bring her back, regardless of the cost.

ENVY, FALLEN ANGELS, BOOK THREE, is phenomenal. Jim suffers a lot in his battle against Devina, but he is determined and fierce. The romance between Veck and Sophia sizzles and sears the pages with its heat. The two complement one another perfectly, even as the battle of good versus evil continues. J.R. Ward is a master storyteller whose tortured heroes continue to find a place in this reader's heart. You won't want to miss this one!!

Jim Heron along with his sidekicks Eddie and Adrian, are ready to go up against Devina for the third battle between good and evil. This time around, the person he must save is Detective Thomas "Veck" Delvecchio, Jr., the son of a serial killer. Veck believes it is only a matter of time before he walks in his father's footsteps. When he blacks out while staking out an alley while waiting for a killer, he wakes to find his target close to death and believes he is responsible. Internal Affairs Officer Sophia Reilly is assigned to partner Veck while he is working cold cases. She doesn't believe Veck killed anyone and thinks she may be able to prove it.

Veck decides to work the case of Sissy Barton, a young woman wo disappeared one night and was never seen again. This brings Veck and Reilly in touch with Jim Heron who has vowed to retrieve Sissy's body for her family and save her soul from Devina's well of souls.

This is the third book in the Fallen Angels series. I enjoyed this addition to the series. I liked the relationship between Veck and Reilly, and the battle between Jim and Devina. If you're new the series, start with book one or you'll be lost. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Really enjoyed the 3rd installment of the series. The other main characters are finally fleshed out a bit more and you get to see what's happening up in heaven, you get to know a bit more about Eddie and Ad and the love story between Reilly and Veck is played out nicely. Light v dark at it's best.

I am really enjoying this series. I can't wait for the next one. The storyline between Heron and Sissy has me hooked and I want to know ASAP what happens. I actually became onion-eyed in certain spots, but that's just me...I'm a sucker for sentimental moments in books. I believe it's a must to start from the first book in this series and not skip around, though there are only a few of them as it is. Hurry up, J.R. Ward, I need my next fix! Team Heron! \o/
