I am a Francophile, having spent my childhood in France. I love reading any and all books about France, Paris, etc... Michael Sadler's book "An Englishman in Paris" is a very good book, with one exception.
As long as he is talking about his experiences with the french culture, he is humorous, witty, charming and delightful. When, however, he gets into detailing his affair with a married woman, as he does in length in this book, he is just plain disgusting and revolving. Michael... it is bad enough that you go about seducing married woman, it is despicable to them go about bragging about it (very unfrench and, for that matter, unbritish) and expecting us to delight in reading about it. Stick to writing about the culture and leave out the details of your sexual activities which actually only serve to show how insecure you are.
