Endangered Minds : Why Children Don't Think and What We Can Do About It
Endangered Minds Why Children Don't Think and What We Can Do About It
Author: Jane M. Healy
Dr. Healy examines the decline in schools and offers concrete advice for improving our students' endangered minds. A fascinating assessment which argues that children in today's fast-paced electronic world use their brains differently than did children in past generations.

Basic premise is that growing brains are physically shaped by experience. Because "today's" children (written in 1991, probably even more true today), they develop different habits of thinking than we did back when education was perfect.

This book helped me understand why each generation is different from the other and why it's so important to give our children the right kinds of things to do and to think about. A must read for both teachers and parents.

Loved this book!!! It changed the way I interact with my grandchildren. Sure wish I had it when my kids were young, so I'm constantly sharing it with young parents.

Endangered Minds... was well researched, documented, and written. As a homeschooling mother I appreciated the insight into the learning process that it provided. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone in an educational role, and to parents in general.
