An intelligent analysis of the clash between reason and religion as it is practiced today and in the past. Harris makes a strong argument against the encroachment of organized religion into world politics. A book filled with things and situations to think about.

This is a challenging and thoughtful book. Harris has done the world a great service by writing it, and everyone should read it and really think about it in depth. His central premise is that faith itself is dangerous and cannot be spared the kinds of criticism that we give to other kinds of muddled thinking. From that basis he develops a few other - fascinating - points as well.

I cannot recommend this book strongly enough. Please, please read it!

This book is unlike any book I have ever read. It is very thought provoking, sensible, and threatening. It will test one's faith, but in a good way. This is important reading for all people who are concerned about the direction in which the world is heading.

An excellent book that shows that theism is not the only way. He talks about scary and violent passages in the bible that threaten all free-thinking people. A must read for anyone with an open mind.

As an atheist myself, coming from a fundamentalist background, this really hit home for me. Altogether an excellent read with some well written arguments against the encroachment of religious nonsense on the realm of reason and fact. Definitely a must read for anyone interested in the preservation of reason and sanity.

Like reading Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchins; Harris has no patience with religion. However, he goes diverges from the above writers on atheism by stating that Islam is more dangerous than other religions, and he carves out an area of spirituality that he feels has some merit.

I found the book to be interesting, explaining what I couldn't put into words when speaking of Faith to friends and family members. The only problem I had with the book was a need of a dictionary by my side at all times. Also some of his words were not even in the dictionary.

Great book and intelligently written. Many new ideas presented about the way we view faith (or SHOULD view faith) and how it is not necessary to lead a moral life. Sam Harris is a true American icon!

An amazing book. His theory is that the belief in religion and its idea of faith in non believable and outdated ideas is responsible for many of todays ills. Faith is used to make people continue to believe in outdated in false facts. He uses the Muslims as an example. Still believing in stuff out of the 14th century. Worth a reread as some was difficult to get.

This is a very compelling, thought-provoking book. It advocates the end of blind reliance in faith as opposed to a reasoned reliance on ethical thought. I recommend it highly.

This book follows along with and expands on many thoughts and reflections I have had for years regarding religion and faith in the "Bible, Koran, Torah etc. How can a reasonable person take the word of men from over 1500 years ago. These same men used religion to control and subjugate people. Religion once subjected to the light of thought and reason and true discourse cannot survive. This is not an attack on spirituality or true faith is things that are proven or have a sound basis in known facts. It is a questioning of the doctrines of many religion that preach the destruction of non-believers or the subjugation of non-believers.
