Helpful Score: 1
Futuristic/dystopian teen fiction by Kiera Cass, and sequel to The Selection. America Singer is one of the six potential brides for Prince Maxon left in The Selection. America is torn between her growing feelings for Prince Maxon and her feelings for her long-time love, Aspen. Prince Maxon is drawn to America and thinks she's Princess material, but not everyone else does. Pretty good book, with an incredible cliffhanger! It will definately leave you wanting more, wanting to know what America's fate will be!
I throughly enjoyed the second in this series. I loved loved that America finally made a choice between Maxon and Aspen ( and I like her choice, btw!). I enjoyed getting to see the girls and their families interact at the Palace. The Marlee & her Officer scenes were awful but really opened up a new depth to Maxon. This book in general brought Maxon as a character a whole lot deeper. We see much more of what he thinks, why he does what he does, and how he has been raised. Where the first book was focused on America, I feel this one was mainly focused on getting to know Maxon better.
Apparently, there is a rule that no stories involving a dystopian United States can be resolved unless there is a trilogy.
I lowered my rating because there should have been some sort of resolution. Instead, Cass leaves her readers hanging! Seriously, two books and still no sort of resolution? The three books could have easily been condensed into one book.
Truthfully, I feel breaking it into three pieces was nothing more than a money grab.
