I really enjoyed this book on audio. The included imagery read in that Southern cajun patois was like sitting on the back porch of a lake house at sunset drinking a beer with the crickets singing in the background, listening to an interesting old story. The story begins with a rather gruesome murder, then twists, turns, ghosts, interesting characters, and old secrets make appearances along the way winding along to a satisfactory conclusion. With its 3 CD length, this book ended much too quickly. Has been made into a movie with Tommy Lee Jones - helps to have read the book to enjoy the movie.
