Two separate studies of children who are exceptionally bright, and at the same time exceptionally late in beginning to speak, provide the background for this dramatic story of these children and their often anguished parents. In the short time that these children have been studied, examples have turned up al over the world.

Great book. Tons of great information on children who are like Sowell's son.

This was a fascinating read. I'd never heard of the Einstein Syndrome. As with any Thomas Sowell book, the author provides objective information in his typical compassionate, open-minded, and thorough way.

I highly recommend this book for anyone with a late-talking child who seems otherwise normal. My late-talking son fit the profile in the book: engineers and musicians as parents/grandparents, gifted in many ways, understanding speech and simply not talking much until he was almost five.
