I think this is a good example of the Golden Age mystery, and typical for an Ellery Queen story, although too convoluted for its own good.

The plot twists and turns and stretched my patience once in a while. I didn't find some things really feasable; however, it was an enjoyable read in the "they-don't-write-them-anymore" vein.

Note: if you are looking for a mystery with a lot of ancient Egyptian content, then this isn't for you. The title refers to a certain type of wooden cross, and not really to Egyptian culture.
