I love the way Diane Tyrrel submerges herself - and the reader - in her settings. This book made me want to move, lock, stock, and barrel to the Sierras. The house is fascinating; you can tell she has done her research and has a love of old houses, beautiful woodwork, well-designed and built. Stacey falls in love with a rambling manor and buys it. She likes the fact that it's hours from work, on the edge of a forest, and her intriguing neighbor Brand. Then she starts getting threatening notes, phone hang-ups, harassment. Someone will stop at nothing to get her to leave--permanently.
