A powerful novel of Honor, Forgiveness, and Unquenchable Faith. The story of a Civil War surgeon, with hands devoted to healing, during a final skirmish of the war, brings death to William Breckenridge, an enemy soldier in the act of surrendering. Now the deed haunts him.
