I have to say this installment has been my favorite so far. The amount of action and the amount of backstory that we get about the characters made a lot of people come to life for me.
I am also thoroughly convinced that the audiobook version is better for me as it hides many of the grammatical errors and style issues I had when I tried to read the book. As written, these novels are much better oral rather than in writing.
(some spoilers)
However I still have some reservations about this series in regards to the model of relationships that is being presented through Edward and Bella's relationship. And in this installment in particular this reservation was furthered when Bella discovers that she is in love with Jacob (who has in many ways treated her better than Edward and is way less controlling than Edward) and even sees what her future could be like with Jacob and likes it; yet she still picks Edward?
I don't feel like a relationship that is described like a drug addiction is really the best model of relationship.

Loved it! What more can I say. I read the books long before the movies came out, saw the movies and listened on cd. Can't get enough of it.

What a terrific series! And read so well on the audio version. I've listened to all three novels so far via my local library. I know I'm not the target age for a young adult novel like this (I'm in my forties), but the characterization is so good (I think it is Meyer's gift for hearing the characters' dialogue), the story line and the dilemmas facing Bella and those who love her follow persuasively from the characters. For those younger readers who worry they'll find the vampire/werewolf aspect too scary to enjoy this series - I think the characters of Bella, Edward and Jacob will draw you in in the very first book, Twilight, and you'll be hooked. If all you want is paranormal fighting/sex/action this is not the series for you. Stephanie Meyer's books are ultimately about personal relationships, even though they include danger, fighting and death.
