Well, I loved that Ms Sparks has expanded her world to include shape shifters, and I love that she keeps exploring new countries. Expanding the orginal story of Shanna and her family was great too.
I was halfway done with this book, however, and realized that nothing had happened yet. SO boring! All the action got packed into the last quarter of the story. Plus, the attraction between Caitlyn and Carlos felt really fake.
It almost feels like, after so many romance novels, Ms. Sparks really just wants to write her paranormal stories. But, she has to write romance stories, so the romance is almost an afterthought. She has a really clever and creative vampire world and most of her characters are interesting. I'd love for her to just start writing a vampire (and shifter) series instead.

i love this author and this series!!she has a lil sense of humor about her!i like that in an author.shes very open to suprising you!i also love how you meet a character in one book,then they are the main character in the next one!

Kerrelyn Sparks is a wonderful writer and full of great details. You will love her latest book and want to read more.
This is the story of Carlos, werepanther, and Caitlyn, Shannon's sister. They fall for each other at first glance, but he needs to find a werepanther mate because his people are becoming extinct. He travels to another country to hopefully find more of his kind, and she manages to hitch a ride with him. There, they get into some tight situations. I truly loved this book. Caitlyn's sense of humor made for quite a few funny scenes. Sparks kept my attention through the whole book, as she always does, and I didn't skip a word. Can't wait for the next one.
This book was great. I loved the heroine. She is smart, funny, and feisty. She is everything that a likable romantic heroine should be when going after a hot, alpha, shape-shifter.

A must read series!
I really enjoyed this book, it was very suspenseful and held my attention to the point of having to just keep reading.
I am a fan of this series but this installment wad not my favorite. There were so many times I was so frustrated that I just want to reach in and shake the hero and heroine. ***Spoiler alert*** The whole forbidden love angle was just weak, the love wasn't all that forbidden. They didn't think about the fact that they work for a high tech lab that specializes in figuring this stuff out, Carlos didn't even want to try until they were 'accidentally' married, then it was like a grudging I-guess-we're-stuck-now attitude. The lab was just a huge after thought in the story, which really bothers me because the technology discovered at Romatech is important to the series as a whole. Despite the negative tone of this review, I still plan to continue reading this series and other books by this author.
Not as detailed or involved as other "vamp" books or series. But it made for a great vacation read.
I always love Kerrelyn Sparks Vampire books, and as I love them so much, I read them fast, and then am on pins and needles in waiting for the next book.
Caitlyn Whelan has finally made contact with her sister, Shanna, after years of estrangement. When she visits Shanna, Cait learns of the existence of vampires and shifters when she meets her sister's new "family" at Romatech. Carlos Panterra is a were-panther who works as security at Romatech. When he meets Caitlyn, he is immediately attracted to her, but knows he is under an obligation to find a mate to perpetuate his race which is close to extinction. Caitlyn doesn't care. She knows Carlos is the guy for her and will fight for him.

The characters in her book are very one dimensional. She tries to make their back stories tormented or interesting but they don't connect with the actions of the characters in the present. For example, Caitlyn went through life feeling rejected and being not good enough. Yet, she repeatedly puts herself in situations with Carlos where he rejects her. On top of that I have a hard time believing the sisters being so independent and brave won't find a way to help their mother.
Sparks does that a lot. She will mention a problem off hand that seems to have some real meat and then forget about it going for some typical silly romance problems. She could have done so much more plot-wise with these characters.

Typical of the smutty jump-on-the-bandwagon paranormal. Tries to be cute and funny ala Christine Warren, but misses and comes out just corny. (Vampires teleporting? Really?) In between bouts of our hero and heroine mooning over their attraction to one another, the author tells rather than shows the story and you just can't feel any connection to the characters. I skimmed most of it and I know I won't miss anything by skipping any other books by this author.
Super read. THe whole series is great.
