Interesting little book. Good to flip through and find your local haunts. Actually seeing the calorie counts for foods you eat all the time will frighten you. This book offers alternatives at common restaurants that are better options. There are also many pages comparing similar foods-snacks, frozen meals, cereals, etc while at the supermarket. The problem is that often the "preferred" option has more sodium, sugar, etc than the other option so it really depends on what you are trying to limit more in your diet, or in this case, in your child's diet. These authors have a free "Eat this, Not that" weekly online newsletter through Men's Health Magazine that compares different items and products. Definitely worth a look!
Trying to teach a 6 year old how to eat healthy is not the easiest thing to do, but since this book stays in my car ALL THE TIME, it has relieved some of the pressures off me trying to decide what is best for her.
I thought the photos in this book was an excellent way to show kids a different way to view their food choices. It is really better for older-middle school kids, my son enjoyed the book- he "got"it!
I really enjoy these books and my 11-year-old enjoys sitting and looking at them as well.
This book is wonderful! Lots of good information. Easy to understand as well.
