A resource guide for math for grades K-3. This book shows you math for the early grades can be and should be simple and easy. An expensive math curriculum is not necessary. Practical ways to incorporate math through normal daily activities.
Helpful Score: 3
In my opinion, though there are many, many homeschool books out there, this, along with Ruth Beechick's other two "Three R"s books are the only ones you need through grade one and even higher. It helps you to see how to apply math principles that you are already using when you are teaching your kids, so that they are learning with you as you go about your daily life.

This is a great book to give you an overview of how to teach your child arithmetic. You can even use it to develop your own lessons.

In this book, Ruth Beechick describes the difference between learning the concrete concepts and the abstract. She says to separate the two and not try to force both concepts at the same time. What a great way of teaching. She puts things into such simple terms for the teacher. It's a short, easy read. No need to make early math costly and complicated. This is just one of the books in the Three R's series. There is another book that includes all three in one book. I think this easy start in arthimetic is out of print.

This book is very useful for the beginning homeschool parent with preschoolers and up. The information is simple as well as the techniques used for education your young child.

I believe this book will help me take the "fear" out of teaching math. I have always just "gotten" math without a lot of thought to it. Trying to teach my son has been something stressful for me. I'm going to use this philosophy with the new school year. It is giving me a new hope.

VERY HELPFUL FOR GRADES K-3
Great for those starting out on the Homeschooling adventure! Down to earth tips and advice on how to do this cost effectively and with supplies you already have on hand.
This book would be well used as a general guide to elementary math. The suggestions at first appear simple but if your child does not master them could have future years of struggle with this subject.
