Probably the most valuable suggestions were about quick birdbaths. The author suggested using a metal trash can lid, add a few landing stones, and some water, and watch the birds come. I don't see myself making one of the other items (even a hypertufa model was shown).

However, I did learn why the old refrigerator crisper drawers that we use for watering birds are not working. The tubs are too deep; birds are distrustful of deep bowls (for either drinking or splashing). This book has so many hints; I will be using it as a reference as we try to find ways to entice birds to our watering bowls.
