Unlike most of the romance novels I've come across lately, is on is actually pretty well written. What i really liked and appreciated was that the heroine, while innocent, isn't a total ninny, and is someone who you would actually want to know.

A very sweet love story with just the right amount of angst and ultimate redemption. The two leads are wonderful and deserve their happy-ever-after ending.

Delightful regency. It starts in Malta with the Major and Hebe having a strong attraction to each other. As the flirt back and forth buiding a relationship the Alex receives a letter accepting his proposal to another woman in England. He must back away from Hebe.
When Hebe's stepmama is about to marry they leave the island to head to England.
Hebe and Alex take a tumble overboard that takes them on an adventure.

Hebe Carlton had little idea of her own charm until Major Alex Beresford arrived on the island of Malta. She made no attempt to cast out lures and treated him with warm practicality, showing an insight and ability to read him that few others had managed. His attentions made Hebe blossom, and her stepmother began to entertain hopes of a wedding.

Then a letter arrived for Alex. The proposal of marriage he'd made to another before ever meeting Hebe had been accepted at last. He should be happy... But now Alex could only contemplate marrying one person and it wasn't his betrothed!
