The first half was a convoluted wild ride of adventure and mistaken identities that bewildered me; where was this story going? Emily Vane, aka Lady Justice, often irritated me with her self-righteous attitude, especially when it came to her former best friend and secret nemesis, Colin, aka Peregrine. My heart bled for the young Colin and his tortured childhood and the overly controlled man he became. Their relationship was too push and pull for me, but when they did click I could taste all their swirling emotions. Delicious! However, those moments weren't enough to overcome my earlier frustration with their frequent flights from danger throughout the wilds of Scotland. 3.5 stars.
