Great cover, fun title and that was about it. I was so looking forward to reading this book. Sadly, it really missed its mark.
The story is about a bounty hunting dwarf named Johnny Walker who has retired from his profession to a life with his dogs and his swamp. All that is disrupted when Feds stop by looking for him to take on a job. Johnny wouldn't have a hard time saying no if there wasn't a little girl involved. He takes the job and sets out with Agent Lisa Breyer who is a Light Elf. Together they head to New York City with the dogs tagging along. The clues start adding up to more than they expected.
The premise sounded great but it really fell flat for me. The humor seemed like it tried way too hard. The characters were mostly forgettable except for Johnny. He was just irritating. The only ones I liked were the dogs and sometimes they were a bit much. The story was kind of lackluster and the dialogue bordered on juvenile.
Although there is a chance that is could get better, I won't continue with the series.
