This book is brilliantly executed with some information about many of the aspects of the Dutch Golden Age. I found it to be very readable and informative. It was so interesting that I finished it quickly because I couldn't stop reading it.
Of course, the wars were an important part of the story, but the information on the classes and Calvinism (and how it permeated all of their culture) was great reading. I was surprised to learn that the middle classes were the art buyers.
They also discussed the main artists and art styles, philosophers, scientists, and new technologies (including new farming and land reclamation procedures). This is well-worth the reader's time. Overall score = E.
