This is a cop story with rather well-drawn characters. The plot line evolves in an interesting way, with few "where did that come from?" moments. The main character's inclination to push the limits doesn't go to the ridiculous but has the effect of making the reader want him to succeed, and his emotional attachment to some of the characters seems realistic -- reminding the reader that it's almost impossible to ignore chemistry and attraction even if it's not a good idea under the circumstances. I've listened to the book twice and enjoyed it both times.

The story line looked interesting when I requested this but I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes because of the foul language. It's not my thing.
