The secrets and sins of a long hot summer.....
At seventeen, Sarah Kincaid had allowed Renzo Cassavettes to seduce her, not dreaming that within hours he would have to flee for his life, leaving her pregnant and alone. Now he's back after twelve years, as handsome and irresistible as ever, with a host of dangerous passions and intrigues hard on his heels. Is Sarah in love with a murderer? Or is Renzo the only man who can save her, as well as the only one she can love?
Decent book for a light read!
Years ago, their friendship had been private--known only to themselves. Intense, passionate, dangerously good-looking Renzo Cassavettes wouldn't have fit in Sarah Kincaid's world. But one sultry summer afternoon, while the honeysuckle bloomed, Sarah had allowed the illegitimate boy from the wrong side of the tracks to make love to her, never dreaming that within hours Renzo would be accused of murder, fleeing from their hometown, leaving her pregnant with his child.
Now, like a dust devil blowing into the outwardly quiet town, Renzo is back, and his arrival proves a catalyst, reviving what had started so many years before. For there is a killer on the loose...and soon Sarah is swept into a man she loved a cold-blooded murderer playing some kind of diabolical game? Or was he the only port in the seething storm of deception and desire?

I fell in love with Rebecca Brandewyne's historical romances. Now she has contempory ones as well.
I enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting, the writing style was a pleasure to read and was realistic and natural, the story line was unique and included suspense and a few tear jerking moments. There was more than just a romance in this story. I plan on reading more by this author!
I love Rebecca Brandewyne's work, and this wasn't quite up to her usual par. It didn't sweep me in and make me forget about everything else except just the book, unlike most of her others. However, it was still a good read.
