Finally, a book of Ms. James' that I enjoyed! Frequent complaints I've had with her more recent books were that she wrote a lot of silly conversation and over-the-top story lines. Not this time, however; this one's a winner. Olivia was a trifle silly, but she was fiercely loyal to those she loved and respected. Her fiance, Rupert, was an unusual and original character; I couldn't help but like him despite his challenges. And Quin, well, he may have had problems communicating his emotions but he knew early on that he wanted Olivia for his own and didn't waste time fighting the love bug. He was romantic, endearing, and downright yummy. The sensual sparks they shared were thrilling. The plot had some unusual twists, and they were nicely done. I wondered how the Princess and the Pea theme was going to fit, but all worked out well. I was disappointed, however, with the ending because it was unsatisfying and didn't do the story justice. Aggravating, yes, but not enough for me to consign it as another dud. Instead it deserves a solid 4 stars.

I have been waiting to find Olivia's story ever since I met her in a previous book. I really enjoyed her character and I loved the silliness. I have to say her sister was really irritating though.

I was intrigued to see how James were going to get past Olivia's fiance. It was very well done and touching. Definitely won a whole lot of points for Quin.

Good, fun read.

Miss Olivia Lytton has been betrothed to Rupert, Marquess of Montsurrey, since childhood. Hoping to find an equally good match for her sister, Georgiana, Olivia and her sister travel to visit the Duke of Sconce whose mother is trying to find him a suitable bride. The Dowager Duchess thinks Georgiana is perfect for Quin. Quin has other ideas after meeting Olivia. There is an instant attraction between them that neither were expecting. But the fact that Olivia already has a fiance and her sister is falling for Quin, may stand in the way of their happily ever after.

This is a very loose re-imagining of "The Princess and the Pea" full of interesting characters. Olivia is described as curvy, loud and opinionated. She doesn't want to marry Rupert, but knows it is her duty. Quin is the brooding Duke who never recovered from the death of his son. Olivia changes his outlook on life.

I loved the romance in this book. Olivia and Quin's relationship was very romantic. The last part of the book where Quin and Olivia travel to France misses the mark. It would have been better with a different ending. My rating: 4 Stars.
