The illustrations are very detailed and bright colors. My children enjoy looking at them and talking about them. The story itself is pretty basic and so makes this book for younger children. But with the wonderful illustrations older children would enjoy it as well. I would say 2 to 10 years.
My son (5) ADORES this book. Only had it a month or so and it gets read at least once a week and it is great cos I can just say the charachters name and he know what he did and answers me with the verse. Its repetitive, it rhymes its easy to remember and it is so so so so sooooooo nice to have you child 'read' a book to you. I cannot reccomend this highly enough to parents of boys, or open minded girls. Its also not really violent it just kind of goes through loading and firing a cannon, there is no talk of war or anything. Enjoy!
