Heather Donovan is head over heels in love with Connor O'Brien, but even though the two have a child together, they are not married.
Heather decides she needs to make some changes in her life. She splits up with Connor and moves to a small seaside town, Chesapeake Shores. Connor's family lives there, which will be a great help with her son. And she has also decided to make her hobby into a business, making and selling her handmade quilts.
Connor O'Brien is a high profile divorce attorney who lives in Baltimore. Because of his profession, he doesn't believe in marriage; it's just a piece of paper afterall. But when Heather moves out, with their son, he begins to realize how much he really loves her and wants her in his life.
However, it takes an accident to bring these two souls together. But can they set aside their differences and try and make another go of it?Or will they continue as they are, both wanting different paths in their lives? Driftwood Cottage is part of the Chesapeake Shores series, and the first novel I have read in the series. However, it does read as a stand-alone. This would be perfect for beach reading this summer! A light romance with two characters realistic characters trying to find their way in the world, doing the best they know how. A warm and lively read!

It seems that the further Sherryl Woods gets in this series, the more she is getting tired of it. This book reminded me of the papers in school where you stretch every thing you can to make your page limit. It was fun seeing Conner hook up, but having to read the exact same conversation over and over and over again got really old, really fast.
Really enjoyed this book, loved the Heather character, always enjoy SW's way with these families.
This by far has the most complex story line and resolution. I like how her characters are becoming more real and less superficial. I wish she would update us a little more in-depth of the past characters she's focused on
Chesapeake Shores series have been fun to read and this one was really good. I love hearing story's of people we have already met in the other books. Very well done. I just finished the Second one Moonlite Cove and that one I couldn't put down. Can't wait till next month for the third one in this series.
All in all, this book was predictable but if you like a love story, you'll like this book. The one thing about Sherryl Woods' books is she kind of repeats the theme over and over in her stories. Having said all of that, if you like to see how a series of books ends, you'll want to read this book to see what happens with Connor.

Very good book.
I've enjoyed all books about the O'Brian family. It would be wonderful to be part of a family like that!

This is the second book in the Chesaapeake series that I have read. I have really enjoyed those that people the story and following their lives as they grow and prosper and love.
