Good, good fantasy! I felt the beginning was slow and a bit choppy but as the tale unfolded the authors put the story together in a seamless manner.
It all begins with Addy who has lost her mother and best friend. She has no idea who was her father. Her guardian is her mother's sister who is so different from the affectionate mother she adored.
Addy is taken to England and put in a boarding school known as the Red Dragon Academy. She doesn't understand why she is in this strange school. Unusual dreams that she doesn't understand have left her confused. They seem so real. Grieving, lonely and abandoned, Abby misses her mother deeply in this new environment with strangers. Can she make friends here? Why does she have these weird dreams and what do they mean? As the reader has probably guessed by now by the title of the book Addy is a Dreamwalker but she has no clue what that means. And, as she becomes acquainted with other students she finds some of them have unusual talents, too. In all there are seven in a perfectly normal school with perfectly normal students. The seven find each other and form friendships.
As the novel develops this adventure fantasy leads the reader on a fascinating journey into another world which is opposite of all that exists in the Red Dragon Academy. This adventure focuses on three of the seven leaving the authors room to explore and develop adventures with the other four. Will the next novel focus on two or four? One cannot help but wonder where the authors plan to go with this series. Nevertheless, it is a fine read and I look forward to the second book.
