Mindless fun; you have to suspend your own sense of reality. The New Orleans setting is very nice.

Nick Gerard is an investment banker on the verge of pneumonia, so he decides to take a break and go to New Orleans where he can recuperate and find out why the building he inherited in the French Quarter won't sell. He's sure the tenants are scaring prospective buyers away. Maggie Mayfair has her shop and her apartment in the same building, and she and the other tenants have tried everything they can to remain together, including "haunting" the building. When Nick shows up, he claims to be a writer looking to soak up the local atmosphere. Believing instead that he's actually a famous author traveling incognito, the tenants nurse him back to health and try to inspire him to buy the building for them. He and Maggie even begin a casual affair without disclosing their true identities or ulterior motives. The trouble is, the apartment building truly is haunted by Nick's ancestor, who causes their crazy house of cards to topple in this fun and lively read.

Nothing new here, folks. Worn out, typical "feel-good" story line. Just like 10 million other romance books out there.
