This is a excellent book about the never ending love of family with an edge of suspense.
I loved the characters and the beautiful Wyoming setting made me want to "go west".
I truly enjoyed this book! I couldn't put it down!

Nice escape to a Wyoming ranch. Story of finding love, family, and a chance to reconcile. Slow start but good story to the end.

I have never read Luanne Rice book that I haven't enjoyed. Excellent, as always!
One of my very favorites. I laughed, I cried. Definitely qualifies as a "page turner".
This is a great romantic story. A good, easy read.
the ties that bind a broken family can be the stongest of all
excellent book, couldn't hardly put it down.
This is a story about the abiding love within families. Daisy and James Tucker had a wonderful home and life in Wyoming until their 3 year old son disappeared without a trace. Daisy took her daughter and went back east. 13 years later her daughter takes off across country to find her home and father in Wyoming.
This was a wonderful story! I couldn't put it down.
I love all her books! This one is great!
This was a really good read.
I really enjoyed this book, from beginning to end. I even cried at a few places it was so moving, and it's been a while since I've read a book good enough to cry over! Definitely worth the read. It's a lot about family, it's a lot about loving someone even though you're not with them, and it's a lot about growing up and the tough things that life throws at us. I'm not reposting this book just yet, because I know I'll read it again at least once, so I hope other members posted some so everyone can enjoy it!
This is a very well written book that keeps you turning the pages. The characters are real and you care about what's happening to them. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Although the story had some twists, they were pretty much predictable, with not too many surprises. I'm not so sure about the correctness of the author's descriptions of ranch life, cattle breeding and Wyoming geography and wildlife. The ending was left open for a sequel, which I hope will be more true to life.
Good enough to keep me awake to 1AM and reading in the afternoon which I don't usually do.
Excellent story! This is well worth the read!
Many years ago, having just gotten out of college, jewelry maker Daisy Tucker had traveled to the wilderness of the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming in search of inspiration to fuel her art. What she had found was rancher James Tucker, a man with the wilderness inside him. Their life together was as close to paradise as a family could get - until the day their three-year-old son Jake disappeared without a trace. Her heart broken, her marriage in tatters, Daisy returned to Connecticut with Jake's twin sister, Sage.
It was just a typical argument, one of hundreds that Daisy had had with her teenage daughter, Sage, over the years. However, this particular argument had ended differently, with Sage gone from their Connecticut home in the morning, leaving behind only a brief note: "I have to go." Daisy tried to stay calm; she tried not to overreact; tried to remind herself that this situation was completely different from what had happened thirteen years earlier to Jake. Yes, this was an entirely different situation from a little boy disappearing into the canyons of Wyoming, never to be found. Sage was sixteen years old and resourceful. She would be found.
As Daisy returns to the Tucker ranch to wait and pray for Sage's safe arrival, what she can't know is that Sage has undertaken a dangerous cross-country pilgrimage to find her father. Desperate to find her daughter, Daisy will return to Wyoming, to the place that once took everything she had. She will also learn that you can never close the door on the past, but sometimes, if you step through it, it can lead you home...
I found this book to be quite engrossing - filled with lots of intertwined story lines and endearing characters. At 504 pages, I would classify this book as a modern-day family saga; definite summer reading for anyone who likes to read books about families. I give Dream Country by Luanne Rice an A! and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

First book I've read by Luanne Rice and it was worth the read!
Another excellant book by Luann Rice. Reads fast, and hard to put down. About a family that splits up when the twin son goes missing when he's 3. At 16, the twin sister finds her self pregnant and trys to go live with the father. Guess who she meets up with to help her get to her father? Oops- you gonna have to read to find out!!
this book was just not my type of book!
I really enjoyed this book. The twists and turns kept me interested. Will definitely read more by this author.
A fantastic heart-warming story.
Wonderful book, I love this author. I have read almost all her books. 1-5 I give it a 5
Good story!
In Dream Country, Luanne Rice describes the reverberations that tragedy can have on a family. Before Daisy and James Tucker lost their 3-year-old son, Jake, in the mountains of Wyoming, they thought nothing could shake their marriage. Daisy had moved west looking for adventure and discovered a man and a landscape that nourished the deepest parts of her soul. With James and their twins, Jake and Sage, Daisy found courage and inspiration for her artwork. Soon after Jake disappeared, Daisy returned to Connecticut with Sage, determined to live a life of comforting reserve. Thirteen years later, a pregnant and isolated Sage feels Wyoming calling. After arguing with Daisy, she embarks on a cross-country trip to discover her father and her family's past.
This was a really good read. I will definitely look for more books by this author. Good Western romance and mystery.
This is another of my favorite authors. I don't think I've read anything by her that I didn't like. Although all the stories have unhappy circumstances, somehow the characters overcome them and end up at least ok.
another good book by Rice
Daisy's daughter is pregnant and decides to go home to Wyoming where her dad lives and her twin brother disappeared at the age of 3. Along the way she meets a young man who helps her gets home. Daisy goes to Wyoming to be with James as they await for the arrival of Sage. I am not going to say anymore, just that you have to read it.
It's a great story, I didn't want to stop reading it till I finished the book.

I was immediately swept in to the story, and actually seriously thought about staying up all night to finish!
Rice takes her characters out of New England to the mountains of Wyoming for some of the action of this paperback. I enjoyed the love story as well.

Rice has a talent for describing people's complex and conflicting emotions. As Sage travels
across the country, her love for her unborn child grows, while her first love unravels.
Tragedy both unites and separates Daisy and James, and age and infirmity begin to eat away
at the love of James's father and his girlfriend. Daisy Tucker has built a comfortable life
with her 16-year-old daughter, Sage, in Silver Bay, Conn., where she has gained a reputation
for designing jewelry that seems to have inspirational powers. Combining artistry with her
knowledge of Native American myths and legends, Daisy creates pieces that bring people
together, heal wounds and serve as talismans. But no combination of gemstones and carved
animal bones can assuage the pain in Daisy's life. Sage's twin brother, Jake, disappeared in
the wild country of Wyoming during a cattle roundup 13 years ago, when he was three. Fleeing
the scene of tragedy with her daughter, Daisy left her husband, James, behind at his family
cattle ranch and moved to New England to be close to her sister, Hathaway. Now Daisy faces
another crisis when a pregnant Sage runs away with her boyfriend, Ben, intent on a new life
with her father at the ranch. Ben has second thoughts and decides to return home, so Sage
heads on alone. Hitchhiking leads to danger, and a mysterious, tattooed teenager rescues
Sage and agrees to drive her to Wyoming. Daisy joins James in Wyoming, where another
teenager, calling himself "The Guardian," is stalking the ranch. Rice creates believable
dramatic tension about Jake's true fate, though the suspense lies mainly in whether the
other characters will realize what has become of him.

Awesome book by my favorite author!!!
I think this is one of Ms. Rice's best books yet. I loved the Wyoming setting and the characters Jake and Sage. The Indian folklore thrown in was an added treat. To be honest, I was getting a little tired of the Connecticut shoreline and this fresh setting renewed my love for her stories. I think this book would be perfect for a sequel! I love books that make me cry and and that renew my faith in the power of love and family. A fabulous story!
A very good story. Nice variation on plot line. Set in Wyoming's Wind River area with a nice mixture of romance and intrigue. Believable characters. I'll be looking for more from this author
This was hard to put down. I read it in two days. Great story with a couple of twists!
a great book in that it reminded me of a tragedy that happened a few years ago, when a small child was lost in the woods with out a trace. This book tells the tale of such a loss. and the heartache and joy of a couple who's lives are torn apart and mended again.
A haunting love story, a gripping mystery and a fmily saga in a western setting.
a moving story of love and reunion.
Very nice reading. I liked it. Excellent book for fireplace reading!

Fierce family drama
Jewelry maker Daisy Tucker's remarkable talent has earned her a devoted, growing clientele. Her necklaces and bracelets are fashioned of polished stone and delicately etched bone, crafted into pieces inspired by family stories, myths, and Native American lore. But it is not just because of its unique beauty that her jewelry is prized, word has spread that Daisy's creations bring love into the lives of those who wear them.
Once, years ago, Daisy's work had brought love into her own life. Just out of college, she had traveled to the wilderness of Wyoming's Wind River Mountains in search of inspiration for her art. What she found was rancher James Tucker, a man with the wilderness inside him. Their life together was as close to paradise as a family could get, until the day their three-year-old son, Jake, disappeared without a trace in the wild country they both had loved. Her heart broken, her marriage in tatters, Daisy returned home to Connecticut with Jake's twin sister, Sage. Wyoming had taken everything from her but her livelihood.
Now, thirteen years later, Wyoming wants more. Sixteen-year-old Sage, whose bedroom walls are covered with posters of the West, is on a dangerous pilgrimage across a vast continent to a father she has longed for but lived without most of her life. Sage's thirst to see the land and father of her dreams, and learn more about her lost twin, is driving her westward on freight trains and farm roads.
Daisy, terrified, flies out to where it all began, to where James Tucker now rides the range with a heart turned to stone, still scouring the canyons for Jake. Still wary of each other, Daisy and James wait and pray for Sage's safe arrival. As Daisy pours her sorrow and hope into new talismans of love's magic and healing, she will need all the strength and wisdom she can find to learn that you cannot close the door on the past, but sometimes, if you step through it, it can lead you home.

Dream Country is the best book I have read in quite a long time. Luanne Rice knows how to expertly draw you into the story and make you attach yourself to the characters as their emotions spill out onto the pages. You cannot help but become involved in their story. Some themes that struck me particularly were: sisterly love, love and devotion between horse and rider after many years absencd. amd the realities of life on a cattle ranch in the west.
The story itself was about a couple who lose one of their 3 year old twins and how their lives split apart for the next 13 years.

The ties that bind a broken family can be the strongest of all....
Bestselling novelist Luanne Rice writes of the abiding love within families and how it can save us even in the most difficult of times. The truth and beauty in her stories will break your heart and mend it again, stronger and more full of hope than ever before.
