Oh, my. I requested this book from a recommendation on the LGBQT boards. I began to read it with the expectation of it just being a book about a boy with the hardships of growing up gay in the South, but it turned into something else entirely.

That's all I can say. I laud this book to the highest extent.

Haunting and beautifully written, Dream Boy will shock you with its impact. Jim Grimsley paints a vivid picture of love amidst chaos and dysfunction in rural America. Highly Recommended.

I read this a couple years ago.
I never knew it was a gay novel (i just thought the names were funny) and it opened to me a new genre!
Writing is beautiful, sweet, and poetic. I stayed up all night to finish and cried myself to sleep.

Well written, but unsettling. You can feel the tension the entire time your reading it.

This book has triggers - here are some warnings: child abuse & sexual assult

Don't judge this book by it's cover. It's nothing like you think it will be. This book was perfect until the ending.

Not that the ending was bad, it was completly unexpected. I completed reading it three days ago and am still scratching my head.

The ending isn't bad, in fact it's positive. It's just completly unexpected.
