Like any collection, there will be some good and some not so good. That's what happens here. Unfortunately, my overall feeling was 'meh...' Even with a Bradbury story in there.

From dust jacket: A flapping of wings. A glint of shiny scales. A whiff of hot smoke. An ominous rustle, a shivery slithering sound, of rough hide on rock. Perhaps the glow of treasure, piles of gold in the back of a cave...

Dragons have inhabited human mythology and imagination since history began. In Asia they were often benign symbols of wisdom, of life, of good luck. In the European tradition they have more often symbolized greed, dangerous mystery, or at times evil itself.

This collection by award-winning editor Martin Greenberg covers the scaly spectrum. From hero-dragons, to hero's adversaries, from comic to tragic and terrifying, here are dragons to fill a fantastic bestiary, their outlines etched by the best fanrasy writers of our time.

Authors include: Ray Bradbury, Anne MacCaffrey, Roger Zelazny, Gordon Dickson, Mickey Zucker Reichert, Esther Friesner, Alan Dean Foster, David Drake, L. Sprague de Camp, Ursula K. Le Guin, Gregory Benford, Joan D.Vinge, Orson Scott Card, & Mark Laidlaw.
