This book was one of the best books i have ever read, it started me out on the Dragonlance series and this series is on the level of my other favorite series (Ravenloft (TSR) and The Eternal Champion Seires by Moorcock)

The story starts with a fight, and the action continues in a story of friends supporting each other. The friends are different races, but they watch over each other through many battles and challenges.
I like this book the best of many heroic fiction I have read because it has a good mix of character conflict and support, and a continuous flow of challenges for the heroes.

This series captivated me from start to finish. I originally started reading it on book 3 of the series just to waste time at a friend's house (it was on their desk) and I couldn't put it down, went out and bought books 1 and 2 the next day and read the whole series including book 3 again! FANTASTIC!

I loved this book! Tanis, a half elf, half human, is the leader of a band of sometimes unlikely warriors. A drawf, a kender, 2 Barbarians, a knight, a sickly mage and his twin giant brother are among his traveling companions. The group battles the forces of the evil Dark Queen including draconians (reptilian humanoids), clerics and dragons. This book is non-stop action coupled with rich, vivid writing. I loved all of the characters especially the kender, Tas. He's a little dude with absolutely no fear. There is also a love story between the 2 Barbarians which is very inspiring. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Fantastic reading!
This is the books that got me stuck on the Dragonlance books, so far I've only read the ones by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman but they are amazing books so I recommend them to anyone who enjoys reading a good ol' fantasy book.

There's been so much hoo-haw about Dragonlance recently, that I figured I'd finally grab a copy and see what the fuss is about.
Now, granted, the very first book written was probably not the *best* choice, seeing as the authors were just getting themselves wrapped around the novelization of a D&D adventure, but it was the start of the saga, so it did seem like the right place to begin.
But the book has trouble. It's got way too many characters in it to be anything more than a plot-driven story, and the themes of the characters in the story never get explored as fully as they ought. There are sections describing underground exploration where lots of words are wasted describing the length of corridors. It feels like it's struggling with the question of whether its audience is adult or not.
The end result is a book that probably really appealed to 13-year-olds back in the early 80s. Today? There are many many more well-written books for 13-year-olds, and it's not all that great a journey for adults in any era. I did want to see how the book ended, so it was better than something needing only to be tossed out, but its companions will suffer at the bottom of my book pile for quite a while, as I pursue other, better written books.

Really great book! Started really great. Ended with me wanting to read more. The character building is fantastic. The world building is not as good as the character building, but it is sufficient. Worth the read, and got the next one coming.

Dragons of Autumn Twilight is the first of the Dragonlance novels that was ever published. I picked it up having played Dungeons and Dragons a few times before, but having never read fantasy fiction before. Of course - because it's fantasy - there are a lot of things that happen, and the story, on a whole, is pretty interesting. With the exception of one character, I would say that none were very deep, which was surprising. Also, there were many points in the story where the action did not seem to move fast enough. In short, it felt like you were playing Dungeons and Dragons, which can be an extremely tedious process. In the end, however, Weis and Hickman show that they can craft an compelling story when viewed on a large-enough scale. You just have to be willing to sit through some of the slower parts.

First fantasy I've read, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Absolutely great book. Author does not lose track of the story and it flows very well. Each book gets better as the story progresses. Very much a must read if you ever thought you might possibly want to read fantasy but are not sure. It will defiantly open new doors for your reading pleasure i hope as it did me.
