This book was one of the best books i have ever read, it started me out on the Dragonlance series and this series is on the level of my other favorite series (Ravenloft (TSR) and The Eternal Champion Seires by Moorcock)

Think of it as A New Hope for the world of Dragonlance: Sure, maybe it's a little rough around the edges, maybe it's got one cliché too many, but this baby is pure magic. The first volume in the Dragonlance Chronicles series, this classic from Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman started it all for Krynn, eventually spawning a bestselling 90-plus book series. (And, frankly, you'd do well to stick to the Weis-Hickman titles.) All the heroes that you've likely heard of already--the creepy, hourglass-eyed Raistlin, the noble half-elf Tanis, the comic relief Tasselhoff Burrfoot, the curmudgeonly dwarf Flint Fireforge--they're all here, starting the good fight against the Dark Queen Takhisis as the War of the Lance begins. Pick up Dragons of Winter Night when you're done. --Paul Hughes

I loved this book! Tanis, a half elf, half human, is the leader of a band of sometimes unlikely warriors. A drawf, a kender, 2 Barbarians, a knight, a sickly mage and his twin giant brother are among his traveling companions. The group battles the forces of the evil Dark Queen including draconians (reptilian humanoids), clerics and dragons. This book is non-stop action coupled with rich, vivid writing. I loved all of the characters especially the kender, Tas. He's a little dude with absolutely no fear. There is also a love story between the 2 Barbarians which is very inspiring. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Fantastic reading!

This series captivated me from start to finish. I originally started reading it on book 3 of the series just to waste time at a friend's house (it was on their desk) and I couldn't put it down, went out and bought books 1 and 2 the next day and read the whole series including book 3 again! FANTASTIC!
