I got the first chapter for this book on my kindle. I got sucked so thoroughly into it that I immediately had to have the full book. I read it in one sitting and was a very tired girl at work the next day. I was surprised to find this was a first book by this author as the character development was good and the writing style mature. This reminded me a bit of the worlds of JR Ward and Kresley Cole but with a spin all her own. I am definitely excited to see where she goes with this series. Both the Hero and Heroine on this book are great character but the heroine was particularly fun and of course the hero was scorchingly hot. I am anxious to see where this world goes!

Absolutely fantastic! I totally loved this book. Pia Giovanni has been kept protected by her mother for her entire life. Hiding from...well everyone. She is half-human, half-wyr though she has no idea what she would become since she cannot shift. Her mother has convinced her that it is extremely dangerous to let anyone know about her abilities. In her loneliness, she tells her boyfriend one thing and he uses it to blackmail her. Of course Pia is smarter than the average bear and she does what her boyfriend (um ex-boyfriend) wants though with a twist. When she steals a single penny from the all powerful, ancient wyr, Dragos Cuelebre she finds herself running from Dragos. She knows without fail that he will rend her limb from limb for her audacity. But surprise surprise, Dragos does not harm her but instantly becomes possessive and obsessed with her. On their way back to New York, they are involved in a car accident and kidnapped by Goblins. Upon their escape they are attacked by the Dark Fae. It is a roller-coaster ride of excitement and adventure from start to finish.

I loved the characters and most of the supporting ones as well. I liked the snarkiness between Dragos and Pia and their ability to step back from a situation and talk it out without all the misunderstandings usually found in romance books. Dragos is very alpha-like and Pia holds nothing back...she tells it like it is which is refreshing. I am definitely going to break my New Year's resolution and immediately purchase the next few books in this series. I just can't wait to read Storm's Heart and see the sparks fly between Tricks and Tiago. I just knew they were going to be lovers.

This is one of the best new authors I've read in a long time. Her third book just came out and I grabbed it without reading the back. I only have a few authors I buy just because of the author but this is one!

I loved this book. Pia and Dragos burn up the pages with their steamy romance. All the characters are bigger than life and twice as sexy. Wonderful world building.
Love the series with the snappy humorous dialogue. Pia's form is a hoot, although possibly very dangerous for her.

What an exceptional book! Superior writing. Superb dialog. Fast paced. Imaginative story line. Interesting characters and fascinating character growth. Inspired introduction to the series mythos. Touching to see Dragos and Pia's self-discoveries as they fall in love. Outstanding First book in the series.

It has been a long time since I have had such a positive experience in a story. I haven't so much read the book as listened to it on an MP3 player, over and over and over. It is funny, sexy, romantic, and a pure delight! I fell in love with the characters, especially Pia. I hope you will, too.

I just found this series. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I found the story believable and enjoyed all the characters. The dragon acted how one would believe a real dragon would act. I read all 4 books in the last two days. Loved them all.

Great concept, good writing, and lots of steamy romance (They get busy about page 47), but "being chased around" as a plot device doesn't play well with me. That puts it somewhere around 3 1/2 stars - with the recognition that it really is a personal peeve of mine getting in the way.

This was a pleasant read. I did think the first half dragged before picking up. Pia was hilarious, smart, compassionate. Dragos was an alpha (but not an alpha-hole) and was likable. I enjoyed learning what type of Wyr Pia was. This also has a strong cast of supporting characters. (Some (all?) of whom get their own book.)

This book had exactly what it takes the adventure and action came into play at the right time. Pia Giovanni a thief stole from Lord Dragos, dragon and the Lord of the Wyr. Dragos found Pia and decided to help keep her self, even for a dragon, Dragos did not know Pia's true nature.

While Pia was on the run the Dark Fae King, Urien wanted Pia because she could get to the Dragros's hoarded treasure. But Pia's mother had instilled in her a safeguard that not only kept her afraid, she could not really trust anyone because of a one time betrayal. Dragos was determined to show that she could trust him. Though he did not have a clue how to interpret that much to Pia. I did enjoy this book.

Great story line. Love the way you can just picture what is going on and what they look like. better is you read in line, I read book two first, then book one so I kind of knew some of what was going to happen. But any way you look at it, it is a great read.

I have heard some really awesome things about the Elder Races series and got this on audiobook quite a while ago to read. It is okay, but overall I was pretty disappointed. This is definitely one of those paranormal books where the plot takes a backseat to the romance between the two lead characters.

The audiobook was narrated decently. It wasn't narrated so well that I thought it was awesome, but it wasn't badly done either. The narrator did a decent job of having distinct voices for all of the characters and portrayed emotion well.

Pia Giovanni is a half-human/half-wyr. She has spent most of her life keeping a low profile and hiding what she is. However that all changes when an old boyfriend blackmails her into stealing something from one of the most powerful and feared creatures of the Elder Races, Dragos Cuelebre. Little do Pia and Dragos know that the blackmail was instigated by one of Dragos's sworn enemies and part of a much larger plot to bring him down. When Dragos hunts down Pia, he spares her life but tells her he must work off her debt to him. Pia agrees but refuses to be his slave. Both Pia and Dragos are strangely drawn to each other; yet each is too prideful to submit to the other.

This is a very very typical paranormal romance. Dragos is your super alpha male who is centuries old, yet for some reason there is just something that instantly draws him to Pia. Pia is the kind of heroine that has a secret hidden power, yet constantly needs to be rescued by Dragos (to be fair she does help do some rescuing as well). Pia also constantly protests against Drago's advances but when he really asserts himself she melts against him in need. All very eye-rolling inducing and typical romance. The whole series reminded me a lot of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, but not as well done.

There are some interesting elements to this world. The Wyr are all different types of creatures. Generally they can take a human shape but also have a Wyr shape (Dragon, griffin, etc). I enjoy the wide variety of Wyr creatures that we meet. There is some talk about Other Worlds, which are parallel magic worlds that the characters can journey in between and this was pretty neat too. Unfortunately all of these elements weren't expanded on all that much and were brushed under the rug in favor of the relationship issues and romance scenes.

The romantic scenes between Dragos and Pia were decently done. They weren't the best I have read but weren't the worst either. The scenes are very explicit and Dragos and Pia do have great chemistry together; so the scenes were engaging. There wasn't a ton of creativity in them, but they were good.

This book seems to wrap up the story of Dragos and Pia and I am guessing the next Elder Races book will feature another couple...as is done so often in these types of series.

Overall this was an okay paranormal romance. This book followed a plot and had characters that are very typical to paranormal romance genre. So...if that is what you are looking for this was a decent book. There are some other elements to the story that were interesting; I loved the ideas of the Wyr and of alternate magical worlds. The relationship between Pia and Drago is incredibly predictable and Drago is very much an alpha male stereotype. I won't be reading anymore of this series, but I think for those looking for a serial type paranormal romance series this isn't a bad one.

I loved this one! One of the few books I've read in a while that I did not want to put down. The chemistry between the h/h was very good, and their dialogue was witty, sarcastic, and funny. Great potential for the next book too, as there were a bunch of characters in this story that I would like to see more of! I will definitely be reading more in this series.
