the book cover says: 'The finest series of historical detective stories ever written." - Ellery Queen. i really liked these stories. each chapter is a different mystery taken from real incidents in history at the time of Boswell and Johnson, and that makes them even more interesting. at the end of the book are paragraphs going over the real historical accounts from which she spun her tales.
