I always turn back to this way of eating post-holidays or whenever I need to get the sugar out for a while. I always refer to it for motivation and to get a reminder of how sugar and over processed, simple carbs can really harm you.

This is a very easy read. It helped me lose 17 pounds for my wedding.

My opinion though, is not to stay on this diet for a long period of time.

Dr. Atkins' method is one that has worked for many people. A Duke University study indicated that low-carb dieting was more effective than traditional low-fat diets at helping people lose weight and keep it off. This method is the only one that has worked for me. Yes, you get tired of meat and eggs, but the weight will come off if you stick with it. There are lots of really good recipes in the book, too.

This diet helped me lose about 20 pounds but it wasn't a sustainable way of eating for me because I don't like a lot of meats. If you really like beef, pork, and other kinds of meats, then you will probably enjoy this diet.

Worth reading to understand "how it all started," but I'd move more toward the *Protein Power* or *Schwarzbein Principle* or *Zone Diet* balance of more modern medical folks.

I lost 9 lbs in my 1st week! Unfortunately for me, I don't love meat/eggs so much that I could stick with this diet. For the strong-willed, this book is a must if you want to lose some serious poundage!
