This is book 13 in the series. Rachel Swartz leaves the Plain life but takes secrets with her. Chief of Police, Kate Burkholder is shocked when she finds that Rachel has been brutally murdered. She is told that Rachel has many enemies. When long buried secrets resurface, Kate must find the murderer before he strikes again. I love this series. Castillo is a great writer and storyteller. The book has twists and turns I didn't see coming and the ending is a complete surprise. Can be a standalone but should start at book 1 in order to get all the background on the characters. Thanks to MacMillian audio for a copy of the audio of this book. Kathleeen McInerney is a great narrator and she is the voice of Kate Burkholder. I love reading along with the audio. It makes for a great experience.. I also loved hearing from the author at the end of the audio.
