Private eye Toby Peters follows boxing as much as the next guy, but he never expected to encounter heavyweight champ Joe Louis this way: covered with blood and standing next to the corpse of Peters' ex-wife's husband on a deserted beach!

If I was Toby Peters, and got beaten up as much as he does, I'd find a safer job. Perhaps he'd feel less threatened as the person tied to a spinning wheel in a knife throwing circus act.
At least he made some serious money---at least for him---on this job. And, unlike most other books in this series, his brother didn't beat up on him once.
And I have to say I was really surprised at the identity of the killer. Boy, that one came out of left field.
