WOW! Great mystery - engaged me in trying to solve it and sort through all the characters. I never suspected the ending. As a fan of the series, I kind of felt like there was a book missing. But it's been a while since I read the last one in the series, so maybe I have just forgotten some things. Overall, a great entry in the series and I have to applaud Ms. Davidson for her continued ability to thrill & interest!

This book is a cozy mystery that is not too scary to read at night.
Goldy doesn't discover the body until the storyline is in place.
These mysteries have little profanity and are a good read with
good recipes. While I haven't used any recipes from this book (yet),
I have from others.

Great author. I don't typically enjoy the food thrillers, but these are fairly good books.

Another culinary murder mystery; this time, one of the main characters in the series is killed.

It's been awhile since I've read Diane Mott Davidson - seems there's a longer gap between the books than in the past. Double Shot is a slight departure from the Goldy Schultz catering series in that there isn't the usual angst and mouth watering delights amongst the pages - in the past the recipes would taunt you from the pages of the book through Mott Davidson's descriptions and while there is some of that especially in Tom's Italian sandwich concoction it's not as prevelant as in past books.

Without giving away too much, wondering how the next book will pan out. Angst or no angst.

Cute story and the recipes in the back sound great although I didn't try any of them.

Caterer supreme Goldy Schulz has more on her plate than she can handle. Her ultra-charming, ultra-wealthy, and seriously psychopathic ex-husband, Dr. John Richard Korman (aka The Jerk) is free now that the governor has commuted his prison sentence.

Denver Post says it's her best book...I agree. Had a hard time putting it down. This time Goldy was the suspect. Lots of twists and turns. I thought this one and that one, but was surprised at who the killer finally turned out to be and why.

I didn't like this as much as some of the other Goldy mysteries. The subject matter was very "adult." Let's just say I wouldn't want my 13 year old daughter to read it.

I think this is the original mystery-with-recipes series and it is better than several others I have since read. A cook friend swears by the recipes! I would recommend reading the first ones first, and then it is less important to read them in order I think.

Keeps you guessing all the way to the end, with a surprise ending - but it absolutely makes sense and is not a 'stretch' by any definition of the word. The second half of the book really is what convinced me - I will read more of Davidson's books in the future. Besides, there are some mighty tasty-sounding recipes included!

Not the best of Davidson's books, but a quick snack of a book that will do in a pinch. The familiar characters make this book more enjoyable, but don't choose this as your first Goldy Bear Shultz book. Some of the recipes look pretty good, but I didn't try them out.

Now that her terminally bothersome exhusband is free, Goldy's life is again in turmoil. Someone is out to frame her for murder and sabotage her catering business. Is it the same person, is there possibly more than one person out to destroy Goldy? Along with always mouthwatering recipees is another mystery that practically turns the pages for you. Can't wait for the next in the series Dark Tort.

The divine diva of the culinary cozy returns with a crime novel that will have fans of Goldy Bear Schulz, caterer and caffeinated sleuth, cheering as they race for the nearest pastry shop. The 12th carb-laden installment of Goldy's adventures (Chopping Spree, etc.) offers as its main course a toothsome corpse du jour: Goldy's abusive ex-husband, Dr. John Richard Korman ("the Jerk"), whose shenanigans have annoyed a long-suffering Goldy and enlivened Davidson's series since its debut 14 years ago. After Goldy arrives at her new catering center to prepare for a memorial luncheon, she's attacked; when she comes to, she discovers that her kitchen is full of spoiled food and overrun with mice. She immediately suspects her longtime nemesis Korman, who's out of prison after serving less than a year for aggravated assault and living lavishly in Aspen Meadows with Sandee Blue, his "fifty-fourth conquest"a young stripper, according to his other ex, Marla, Goldy's entertaining sidekick...

This [novel] marks a turning point for Davidson, as the elimination of Korman provides a much needed jolt to the series. Her latest noir-flavored cozy may attract new readers to a sleuth who feverishly cooks through any crisis and whose recipes are now gathered at the back of the book. (Warning: do not read on an empty stomach!)
