This book was inspired by one of the most notoriously unsolved crimes of the 20th century - the Lord Lucan case. It is a gripping, intense and stunningly written novel of psychological suspense. Claire is a hardworking doctor living a simple, quiet life in London. Her father tried to kill her mother but killed the nanny who resembled her. Claire's father has been missing ever since. 30 years later, the police tell Claire that they may have found him. Claire investigates where her father may have escaped to and finds him in Hvar Island near Croatia. I enjoyed this book as I went to Hvar Island in 2014 when I found family in Croatia as my grandfather left there 100 years ago in 1914 at the start of WW1. I found the book to be a page-turner and a reflection on women and violence. Highly recommend.
Daughter tries to find out what happened to her father after he is thought to have killed someone. Did his friends help him go into hiding? Did he commit suicide? Is he still nearby? A fast paced mystery with an unexpected, but credible ending. A good summer or beach read.
