Enjoyable addition to the series. Really liked her follow up of the shimmerskins in Vincents story.

I felt dirty reading this book. I know there is some thrill to reading something a little naughty, but this book went beyond what I feel is appropriate in an erotic romance. I don't understand this trend toward displaying such graphic depictions of sexual violence in romance and erotic romance novels. Maybe I'm too sensitive but I feel like these graphic, extensive, and violent scenes of rape, necrophilia, and bdsm (in which the goal is clearly to demean and brutalize the victim) as not belonging in well over half of a novel that I'm to understand is meant to be, ultimately, a romance. If, like me, you prefer your romances to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy, then I'd avoid this novel. I'm not saying a little darkness or boundary pushing isn't ever appropriate in a romance, it just needs to feel like it has a purpose that furthers the story of the romance. In this book the torture was overlong and gratuitous. Plus, as another reviewer pointed out, if there had been less explicit sexual violence, maybe there would have been space for an actual plot.

This book is actually two separate novellas instead of a novel. Unfortunately this wasnt apparent to me until the first story came to an abrupt end halfway through the book.

DOMINIC The first story features Dominic and his relationship with Emma, the younger sister of Jane who wed Nicholas in the first book of the series. Emma is married to a Satyr named Marco who becomes injured while fighting in the war in Else World. Due to his injuries he is unable to help her birth their child during the Calling, so he calls upon his friend Dominic to assist them. Unknown to either of them, Dominic is a demon hunter known as a Demonhand and has plans of his own he has been tasked to pass on the Demonhand reign to Marco and Emmas unborn child.

At the beginning of this story I was not a fan of Dominic, but by the end I was very upset that it was over so quickly. The relationship between Dominic and Emma and how it evolved is very believable and I enjoyed how the previous characters are involved and brought back into things as well. I think the author wrote herself out of a second complete novel by shortening these two stories and combining them. I certainly could have read more about this couple.

VINCENT Vincent is the eldest child of Nicholas from the first book in the series. It takes place two years after Dominics story. Vincent is a bachelor who has become obsessed with a particular Shimmerskin he created to mate with during the Calling night. His desire for her to be human, turns into a reality that just might cost him his life.

I wasnt particularly a fan of Vincents MASSIVE penis and that it really became the whole premise of the story, but I did love getting to know the children of Nicholas and how things in their world are evolving. The characters were great but this story also felt too short. I would have loved to see more meat to it. (Excuse the pun!) The addition of Landon felt like it was an afterthought. I would have enjoyed seeing him more involved throughout.

Long story short I really enjoyed this book and the series as a whole. I am looking forward to reading the next book entitled, DANE, which actually begins a new trilogy in the Satyr family saga.

Not my cup of tea:
Little or no story. Violence, blood and gore from the first page.
Rape M/M/F - M/M - M/M/Demon - M/M/Zombie all in one page. (Shudder)
