Off she goes to spend time with her Husband in San Diego and to work on her case. I liked the story line, mystery and the characters. Love her In-Laws, especially Ryan. I used Michael Clarke Duncan as my mental picture for Blue. I had to re-read dialogue many times. Some of it was quick phrases and left me asking who said what. I was often lost on the meaning and had to go back and re-read it a couple of times to follow the line of reasoning. Not as good as her first one.
I enjoyed the first Animal Instinct Mystery, and I really wanted to enjoy this one, too. I find the characters to be quite engaging, and I care about what happens to them. However, I found the storyline to be too twisted and convoluted. I kept getting the feeling that I had missed something, and I spent a lot of time going back and re-reading bits and pieces.
I hope Sara and Conner can resolve their issues, because I like them both, and I don't see how they can sustain many more books as things are ...

After accidentally treating her in-laws to a peep show upon their first meeting, and having a catfight with her husband's vengeful ex, legal investigator Sara Townley hopes her next assignment is a simple one. So she takes on a case of stolen identityâ"that finds her in a seedy back street. Then Sara narrowly escapes becoming a casualtyâ"a fate awaiting her one and only witness. In the meantime, Sara seems to have picked up a sidekick: a big, black Labrador who shows up at every turn.
And since her only lead is growing cold in the morgue, maybe following the dog's nose isn't such a bad idea...
