I liked the original version of this story much better, Goddess by Mistake. This book was OK if you had never read the other and needed an intro to the series.

This is 'Goddes By Mistake' with a new name and publisher. Out of all the PC Cast books this is my least favorite. It's decent, but not great. Being her first book I don't think she'd hit her stride yet and it came off as less captivating and a bit choppy than her other works.

Cute. Actually did make me want to try the next book...but it doesn't seem as good. The vampire-like Fomorians are invading and our heroine has more experience with unruly English students than with being the chosen of a Goddess and military leader of her people...plus, she finds she's engaged to a hot shape-shifting Centaur. Cute modern dialogue and sort of "mirror" images of other people she knew in the modern world. Good beach read.

Very nice start to this series. I really like the "Chosen of Epona" being a funny, 30 something character.

This was a refreshing departure from the usual paranormal romance books that are short on plot, have desperately shallow characters, and are little more than an excuse for sugar-coated porn. Shannon Parker is a delightfully "real" person, and all of her little comments tossed in throughout the book will make you smile. Centaurs, Muses, Goddesses Incarnate, and a touch of magic thrown in for good measure make this a book that shouldn't be missed by anyone who is a fan of the fantasy/paranormal genre.

I am glad my cousin recommended this book to me because it is a really fun read. When I returned this one to her, I asked to borrow the rest of the series. Admittedly, I wasn't sure what to think when I read the back. But after I started, I found I was having a great time and enjoying the ride. I like the world the author created and how the main character handles it. Part of me is curious about Rhiannon's experiences with Oklahoma, but that is not addressed, at least not in this installment. (I just started book 2, so I don't know if that will change or not). I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Summary: Going . . . Going . . . Gone!

The most excitement teacher Shannon Parker expects on her summer vacation is a little shopping. But then her latest purchase -- a vase with the Celtic goddess Epona on it -- somehow switches her into the world of Partholon, where she's treated like a goddess. A very temperamental goddess . . .

It seems that Shannon has stepped into another's role as the Goddess Incarnate of Epona. And while it has some very appealing moments -- what woman doesn't like a little pampering now and then? -- it also comes with a ritual marriage to a centaur and the threat of war against the evil Fomorians. Oh, and everyone disliking her because they think she's her double.

Somehow Shannon needs to figure out how to get back to Oklahoma without being killed, married to a horse or losing her mind . . .

This book, even having read thousands of books, is one if my absolute favorites. The characters are very well developed and you begin to fall in love with them as soon as you meet each one. Especially Clanfintan, he is the hottest thing on 4 legs. The plot had the vast amazingness you see in epic fantasy stories and the steam of a sizzling romance. I love Shannon through this whole book, she is absolutely hilarious and I laughed out loud at her modern jokes through the entire book, she is so funny. The emotions in this book were real, when people died in the pages I wept with the characters in the book for each and every one of them; when people fell in love I fell in love too. This book is so wonderful from beginning to end, a must read for the romance reader.

One of the worst books I've ever read. Poorly written (appalling, in that the protagonist claims to be an English teacher), stale, predictable plot and a truly annoying main character. I'm sorry I wasted a credit on this one.

This is a cute series. The writing style is very basic but the idea is cute and the story line keeps you interested.

Before I leap into my criticisms, I want to say that this was a very good book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. The plot was exceptionally cute and clever, the characters likable and (with few exceptions) realistic and made me want to keep reading.

On the flip side...sometimes I felt like I didn't understand what some of the sub-plots had to do with the main theme of the book. It all became clear in the end when everything came together, but it was a long time in getting there and nagged at me for most of the book.

At the same time, the writing is not exceptionally engaging. It sort of felt like reading a kid's novel that had an adult theme at points. A very odd sensation that is difficult to put into words. I guess the best way to describe it is that the reading was easy and quick.

All in all, a fun, mindless read that will keep you entertained, if not necessarily enthralled. Four stars.

Fantasy story of dual worlds with interesting characters on a exciting adventure.
