I felt this one started a little slower than some of the books written by more popular authors of the Forgotten Realms series, but that didn't last for long. It has lots of action, intrigue and magic as well as introducing some new characters I hope to see more of in the next books. Overall, a great read.

R.A. Salvatore is an amazing author that never fails to tell a great story. This is the first of a series and I will be looking for the rest! Highly Recommended!

I found this book about the dark elves of Menzoberranzan a most entertaining read. Each dark elf struggles to become supreme in its family and art. While they compete with and duel each other something or someone is disrupting life as they know it in Menzoberranzan. Conflict, magic, competition and mystery all are found in Byer's book, the first in the War of the Spider Queen series. It's a book I recommend to readers who enjoy fantasy.

It's a good story but all the characters are essentially evil. The protagonist has simply been a little more fortunate at it. I have trouble accepting the premise I guess. It was ok and I'd read the sequel if someone gave it to me but I wouldn't buy it.
