OK, yeah, this is a Disney cartoon. I'm over it.

What I'm NOT over is the discussion my high schoolers were having today about girls' representations in Disney movies. They all, boys AND girls, commented on how Mulan is a girl who kicks major booty, doesn't wait around for her prince, doesn't back down in the face of injustice, and stands up for her rights, even when all say she's wrong. The girls said they admire her, and the boys said they're scared of her. GIRL POWER!

This is a nice telling of the story, complete with full-color illustrations of that fierce woman: Mulan!

Very beautifully illustrated with a watercolor feel, and oversize, making it a great picture book. (Actual cover on one offered has slightly different background with purple hues and earth tones). Book is approximately 12 by 10 1/4".
