Austin Texas 1988 in the blistering heat of a six month summer, a psychotic killer, high society call girl,a gruesome murder, a beautiful widow and elite circle of power brokers and a shot at the presidency.Detective dan reles has six days to sort them out before it's too late.
I was expecting this to be more lighthearted than it was, but in the end, that's okay. This dark, gritty tale of a Jewish cop in Austin, Texas, breathes with a glimpse of our future that's all too possible. At the same time, it's one of the most convoluted mysteries I've ever encountered, yet it all makes perfect sense (once you're able to keep all the characters straight). Add in some very intriguing character development and I'm not sure why this series -- there are now four of them -- hasn't gotten wider attention. It certainly deserves it.
