This was a pretty good murder mystery with a surprise ending. First book by this author that I've read - I like it enough to read more.
Helpful Score: 3
Roller coaster ride, keeps you guessing with clues as to the real bad guy hidden all through.

Really good page turner. Some surprises too. Scottoline keeps getting better and better!

All her books are excellent, but this one is somewhat different and really good reading. One of those that you don't want to put down.
Helpful Score: 2
"Dirty Blonde" has action, romance, a witty dialogue and a plot with twists and turns worthy of a top-notch suspense novel...one of Scottoline's better novels.
Helpful Score: 1
I liked this story, though it's not my favorite by Scottoline. It seems that the storyline could be plausible because the main character, Cate, wasn't sure if she wanted the position/promotion of judge or the job its self. So I could see how a person could make bad decisions about her personal life, if she wasn't really sure of who she was and what the ramifications would be towards her career. There were a few unexpected turns in the book and the guilty party was way out in left field for me, someone I'd not suspected at all.

Fast-paced Scottoline novel about Cate Fante, a glamorous new judge who leads a double life unbeknownst by all. When her cover is blown during a high-profile case, her troubles begin, and she must fight to recover her career--and an enemy sends her running for her life.

Really good book, kept me guessing.

A judge who meets men in bars, one nite stands, hidden cameras, murders, etc. I found I didn't like this book as much as the other Scottolines I've read. It moves fast as least.

If you love Lisa Scottoline books, you'll love this one! Nice twist at the end.

Really enjoyed this one. Cate Fante is a wonderful, very human character...just appointed to the Federal bench, she has some very interesting quirks. Her best bud is a warm and funny single mom. A high-profile case in her courtroom takes a wild turn, and then so does Cate's life. Who killed whom...and how Cate travels the road to the answers...makes a good read, and there are enough threads pulled loose to make me want to follow up with the next chapter.

Fantastic! This book reminded me why I always anxiously await new releases from Lisa Scottoline. A flawed but endearing heroine, lots of great supporting characters, and an action-packed plot!

Excellent story/mystery! A federal judge has a dirty secret but that is only the beginning of her problems. The perpetrator is a complete surprise! Love that. Ms. Scottoline has outdone herself this time.

I think this is my first Lisa Scottoline book and I really enjoyed it. The main character was great and the author added a lot of witty humor that made me laugh out loud a couple of times, even if it's supposed to by a mystery/thriller.

This was a very good book. The suspense drew me in and kept me turning pages to the very end.

Great read....Lawyers, Judges, Detectives, Sex, Laughs and Love all rolled up in a great book. Lisa Scottoline has done it again.
I am a huge Lisa Scottoline fan -- her murder mysteries about women attornies are great, with a sense of humor interspersed. This was a good one!
Surprising flaw in the main character. I love Lisa Scottoline and read everything she writes.
Another great Scottoline mystery the ending is solid however I wish it had been drawen out a few more pages.
This is the first Lisa Scottoline book I've read and I was not impressed. Maybe it was the story line and the actions of the main character but I don't enjoy it very much and finished it only out of habit.
Excellent book.
A very good read
This wasn't my favorite Scottoline book, but once I got into it I enjoyed it more. She is really good at these legal mysteries and she lives in Philly so you know the settings are accurate.
One of Scottoline's earlier books. The first couple of chapters were tough to get hold of, but I'm glad I hung in there. Solid book and good story. Interesting to see the world of supreme court justice through the eyes of a woman.
AWESOME!
This book was excellent. Lisa Scottoline is now one of my favorite authors of thrillers.

This is only the second book of Scottoline's that I've read. 99% of the book is great, and I'm hoping that it's only a coincidence that the plot of "Dirty Blonde" is very similar to "Daddy's Girl." It's just a little disappointing that once I got to the end, the book felt like a "cookie cutter" plot, following the formula of her other book.
Otherwise, "Dirty Blonde" was a fun read.

Very engaging plot and characterization. Great exploration of sexual equality issues.
Best Scottoline to date. Loved it.
A BOOK THAT EVERYONE SHOULD READ. It showcases her talents as never before, and reises the question as to whether law and justice are always the same.
Another great Lisa Scottoline mystery!
This is my first time reading a Lisa Scottoline book. I enjoyed it. She did a good job of pulling me into the story and making me want to read MORE...

A new author for me and I totally enjoyed her book. I am looking to see whatelse she has written.
The plot and characters are just so fascinatinng that it is easy to get caught up with this book. It is a very easy read and quite entertaining. Yes, their are parts that are unbelievable but this is entertainment. I thought the trip back home by the main character really brought nothing to the storyline and could have been left out. Although I enjoyed the book and was entertained I really hated the ending which is why I only gave the book a 3.
Couldn't put it down!
I have been reading Scottoline's books for years but the last one I ordered didn't keep my attention so I hadn't read anything of hers lately. I'm really glad I got this one!! Great characters, good suspense. I usually don't read when I'm in my room but I couldn't out this one down until I was finished.
I loved this book. Could not put it down.
A judge with a secret life and a case that gets out of hand.
A story of love and murder revolving around a newly appointed sexy judge with many secrets. A suspensful thriller.
Good story
Good story
The book begins with the celebration of Cate Fante's appointment to a Federal district court seat. Her fellow judges are there and the champagne flows. As Cate leaves to go home alone, she feels restless and dissatisfied. She goes to a seedy bar and picks up a one-night stand.
Only on the Federal district court for six months, Judge Cate Fante has already heard some unusual cases. In this case Richard Marz, a former assistant district attorney (ADA), is suing a former friend of his and Hollywood producer for acknowledgement, verbal and monetary, that the producer, Art Simone, stole Marz's idea for his hit show, Attorneys@Law (much like Law & Order series). From the testimony, Cate can tell that Marz did come up with the idea but he had only verbal agreements -- a lawyer should know better. The Simone's attorney puts forth a motion to dismiss and, as she mentions in open court, Judge Fante is forced to rule for the motion and dismiss the case even though she feels justice has not been done. Marz, the plaintiff, goes after Simone with his fists and is restrained and removed from the courtroom.
Later that night, Simone is shot and killed by someone who appears to be Marz outside a restaurant. Gina, Cate's best friend, calls her as she sees it on TV. Unfortunately, Cate was in the process of entering a sleazy motel room with one of her one-night stands and the guy gets angry when Cate decides to leave. Cate has to defend herself to escape.
The hunt is on to find Marz and Cate is immediately involved due to her statements in court. In particular a Detective Russo, a friend of Marz's, is very upset and when Marz is found having committed suicide -- Cate feels even more guilt. The action and adventures rev up from this point right up to the end with lots of danger, surprises and some great investigative work by Cate.
You may not like how Cate lived her life and her dark secret but how she copes with her situation and protecting her best friend and her best friend's son is heartwarming and shows her real character.

"A sexy suspense novel." San Jose Mercury News
Well written story of love and murder all revolving around a newly appointed young sexy woman judge with many secrets. Very interesting.
Great Scottoline legal thriller about a sexy judge with a double life
This was actually a much better read than I had anticipated. I recommend this for a quick read.
Loved it. plus the corgi on the back cover made my day.
Scottoline is a great writer, but I couldn't get into this book.
Why do I like the self-destructive protagonist of this book? Don't know, but I do! Anyway, she's smart and it's fascinating to read the legal stuff. Scottoline rocks.
Enjoyed the theme of a good Judge having a dark side to her...created an interesting plot. I particularly like learning about the Centralia, PA underground mine fires that came to a head in the 1980's. Had never heard anything about that before & pulled up the author's website to look at photos from David DeKok's book. Scottoline used this town in her story...very interesting stuff! Great read!
Very good read! All her books are great!
Cate Fante is strong and sexy and wears designer suits like overpriced armor. She's just become a judge but leads a dark double life she hides from everyone.
Excellent book. Plenty of suspense, twists and turns. Character development was thorough. Made me both laugh and cry at various times. Love Lisa Scottoline books!
Very intriguing; for the most part, it held my interest. A few places were boring, but at times I could hardly put it down.
