Much as The Lost World by Doyle - Well written.
This was a nice little story about a teen boy working with dinosaurs that are being moved back to the wild after years in a circus. It was a fairly good book as Greg Bear is usually a good writer. The second half where they are in the jungles of Columbia after returning the dinosaurs get's kind of weird, but the first half was entertaining.
Great YA read.
If you grew up reading Jules Verne or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, you're in for a treat.
Professor Challenger's Journey to the Center of the Earth of the pulp science fiction era is a direct precursor to this book. I think Greg Bear should have titled it Journey to the ENDS of the Earth, instead of 'THE CENTER of the Earth.'
And a teen-aged boy and his father go along on that fantastic journey! At one point the father tells the boy, "Sometimes it's best to look an adventure right in the eye and not back down, not even blink. Never let life see you're afraid."
